Where's The Loo?
Toilets = Filth = Negative Chi.
For that reason, there're six things you should pay attention to:
1. Your toilet should be well-ventilated so that negative Chi gets dispersed.
2. Your toilet should be kept clean so that there's less negative Chi in the first place.
3. Your toilet should not face the front door directly.
4. Your toilet should not be located in an auspicious sector.
5. Your toilet should not face the stove directly.
6. Your toilet should not face your bedroom directly.

Is There A Toilet In Your Auspicious Sector?
I mentioned in an earlier entry that every house can be divided into eight sectors. Four of these sectors are auspicious sectors and the other four are inauspicious sectors.
Where the toilets are located can affect the health of the people who are staying in the house. As a general rule, the toilets should preferably be located in the inauspicious sectors. Avoid having the toilets in the auspicious sectors.
Of course, relocating a toilet is no easy task. So this is something you should probably pay attention to when you're buying a house or an apartment.
Therefore before you purchase a house or an apartment, you may want to find out your auspicious and inauspicious sectors.
If you look at the diagram below, the toilet is located in the North sector.

This apartment will be favorable (from this perspective only) to an owner with Kua number 2, 5, 6, 7 or 8 since North is his/her inauspicious sector.
Conversely this apartment may adversely affect the health of an owner with Kua number 1, 3, 4 or 9 since North is his/her auspicious sector.

Locating The Auspicious And Inauspicious Sectors Of Your Home
According to Eight Mansions Feng Shui, every house can be divided into eight sectors - four auspicious and four inauspicious. Where these eight sectors are located in a house is determined by the Kua number of the head of the household.
Once you have your Kua number, you can find out which are your four auspicious sectors and which are your four inauspicious sectors.
The next step is to get hold of the house's floorplan that's drawn to scale. With a compass, determine the directions and draw a pie chart like the one illustrated below:

You'll then be able to identify the four auspicious sectors and your four inauspicious sectors for the family.

Home Improvement Tip #9 - Your Front Door Should Not Face The Toilet Door
The position and location of your front door, stove and bed have the greatest impact on your health.
When your front door is situated in your auspicious sector, you'll invite positive Chi into your home which will benefit you and your family's health. When your front door is situated in an inauspicious sector, you'll invite negative Chi into your home which will affect you and your family's health adversely.
If your front door faces the toilet door directly (refer to the first picture below), Chi that enters into your house will be convoluted with the negative Chi from the toilet.

So if positive Chi enters your home, it'll be mitigated by the negative Chi from the toilet. If negative Chi enters your home, it'll be made worse by the negative Chi from the toilet. Unfortunately in this case, negative plus negative doesn't give you positive :-)
There are a number of solutions. One, you can relocate either the toilet door or the front door. If this is easier said than done, build a partition between the front door and the toilet door (refer to the picture below).

One of my friend's apartment actually has a toilet that faces his front door just about two meters away and it's the first thing you see when you enter his apartment. In this case, it may be virtually impossible to build a partition within that two-meter space. The only thing he can do is keep the toilet clean, try not to use that toilet and always keep the toilet door shut.

Home Improvement Tip #8 - Your Stove Should Not Face The Toilet Door
In a previous entry, I said that your bedroom door should not face the toilet door directly because it affects your health adversely.
The same is true when your stove faces the toilet door directly as shown in the picture below.

In Feng Shui, the stove has such a great influence on the health of the household because of its function - it's used to cook food to be consumption. And having the toilet door face the stove directly implies that filth gets into your food more easily.
You can either change the position of the stove or the location of the toilet door. If both solutions aren't possible, you should try to keep the toilet door shut as often as possible.

Finding Your Auspicious and Inauspicious Directions
Every one of us has four auspicious directions and four inauspicious directions. When you learn to activate your auspicious directions and avoid your inauspicious directions, you're able to improve many aspects of your life, including your health, relationships, and financial situation.
The first step of finding your auspicious and inauspicious directions is to calculate your Kua Number.
Once you've calculated your Kua number, you can refer to the chart below to find out your four auspicious directions (Sheng Chi, Tien Yi, Yan Nien, and Fu Wei) and your four inauspicious directions (Ho Hai, Wu Kwei , Lui Sha, and Chueh Ming)
The directions for male and female are different for Kua number 5. So if you're Male, you'll have to look under Column 5(M) and if you're Female, you'll have to look under the Column 5(F).

Home Improvement Tip #6 - Your Stove Should Not Face The Refridgerator
Urban living dictates that many of us have to put up with a miserably tiny kitchen. Given limited space, you may end up with a situation where your stove is facing your refridgerator directly as shown in the picture below.

However such a configuration may adversely affect your health because of the conflicting nature of two elements - fire and water. The stove belongs to the fire element and the refridgerator belongs to the water element.
There are two solutions:
One, relocate either the stove or the fridge so that they do not face each other directly.
Two, turn the fridge so that the door of the fridge does not face the stove directly.

Home Improvement Tip #5: Do Not Sleep With Your Back Against The Door
Most feng shui tips for the bedroom have a lot to do with making it a conducive place for rest and renewal. One of the principles is that you should be able to clearly see the bedroom door while you're lying on your bed.
Sleeping with your back against the door adds undue stress because you can't see who's entering your bedroom.
See the picture below. Avoid placing your bed this way.
